Binibining Pilipinas 2015

by: Psychic August

The Binibining Pilipinas (BPCI) 2015 batch of beauties to international beauty pageants like Miss Universe, Miss International, Miss Supranational, Miss Intercontinental will fare much like how their predecessors did this 2014:  they will fail to secure the top crown in these pageants.

While many will be hopeful that at least one of the candidates fielded by BPCI in 2015 will finally get hold of the top crown in international pageants, they will all be disappointed even more. We will see the uproar of netizens and the other more silent pageant fans being stoked to higher levels than what was just recently witnessed when Philippines' bet  for the Miss Universe 2014 title,  Mary Jean Lastimosa, failed to cut the Top 5.

There will be more clamor for reforms in the BPCI - that Madam Stella Marquez de Araneta retires from her top post, that at least BPCI starts accepting Filipino fashion designers to do the gowns for Binibining Pilipinas international bets, etc.

But I see some light at the end of the tunnel.  If, and only if, there is enough public clamor to do so, BPCI will consider the works of some top Filipino fashion designers for its pageant bets this year, and even to the extent of, due to very insistent force, putting aside Colombian designer Alfredo Barazza, or  lose the support of majority of it's local patrons.

To conclude, although I still see that 2015 will still, all the more, be a lackluster year for Philippine bets to international beauty pageants, not just from those of BPCI, but also those from other local pageant organizations, the year will at least introduce some good precedents for the pageant scene in the next coming years.

And BPCI chairperson Madam Stella Marquez Araneta will still keep her post.

  1. Yup its in the tv news; bpci will Start using gowns done by filipino designers, although MJ downplayed that SMA shouted at her when she tried to wear the almodal gown.

  2. Although I agree that gowns worn by our candidates impact their performance in international competition, I think MJ's non-inclusion in top 5 cannot be solely attributed to that. The judges just didn't think she's the best, there are just far better candidates than her. But at least it paved the way for the public to demand better gowns for future candidates.

My question though abt this reading is if 2015 candidates won't fare well in international competion, what's the reason?

    1. Hi Anonymous, you have answered the question already:) Even with better Filipino designer made gowns, this year's batch of candidates may not be the adequate enough, or more aptly, not lucky enough or simply not destined to win the respective crowns they are competing for. 5. Oh my, what a fearless prediction indeed! It sounds like were sending backstage ladies this year!!!

  6. It's about time that Filipino fans learn the art of competing and not resort to a one-track mind approach in dealing with failure. There were many factors at play that lead to MJ losing, not just the gown. Stop resorting to finding one single reason why your bet failed. MJ will not be the only beautiful candidate the Philippines will ever have.

  7. Is there one candidate among the current batch that has that inner strength that's cut above the rest?

  14. Stella Araneta will definitely choose either Pia Wurztbach or Christi McGarry for Universe. Janicel will be good in competition like Supra.

  18. I think this year's winners are deserving. I would switch Colis with Catacutan though. Natural beauty si Colis, si Catacutan nman ay katakot-takot na surgery ang ginawa. Let's just hope she will do well in Supra.

    1. I agree teh, Parang hindi bagay ang mga placements nila. For one, Mcgarry is going to be sent to Intercontinental again where she got the special award Queen of Asia and Oceania award in 2010!

  22. The issue would have been solved if only Rogelie agreed to switching crowns. She refused, so BPCI had to get permission from Intercontinental organizers to allow Christi join again. It's a good thing they got a positive response.

  23. So not even runner-up placements in any of the 5 international pageants? I find it hard to believe coz this batch is better than last year. Well, except for Rogelie.

  24. Rogelie declined to switch? Intercontinental is more iconic than Supra i think. So kind of Intercon to allow a repeat candidate, though.

  25. FIlipino designed gown will now be considered by her Royal Highness. What else can be improved? Re-assign those franchises to different organization would be a good one i think.
