Even if newly elected President of the Philippines Rodrigo Duterte announced that he will pursue the Philippines claim over Sabah or North Borneo from the Malaysian government, the latter will still be reluctant to give it up.
The residents of Sabah, still preferring to be part of the Malaysian Federation instead of the Republic of the Philippines has a lot to do with this.
