One of my favorite Lenten songs of all time -
Pie Jesu - is a song of mourning lifted from a standard requiem mass for centuries. The most contemporary derivation being the 1980's hit from Andrew Lloyd Webber, rendered by soprano Sarah Brightman.
.
At this time, by the way, Sarah is preparing for her trip to the
International Space Station this coming September, aiming to be the first singer to perform in the outer space.
