April 28 Mercury Retrograde: Its Effect on the May 9, 2016 Philippine Elections

From April 28 to May 22, 2016, we experience an astrological cycle which occurs 3 or 4 times in a year, called Mercury retrograde.  This is a period in which Mercury appears to suddenly reverse its orbit around the sun, as viewed here from Earth.  What actually happens is that Mercury slows down in its orbit, which can make it appear as if it went backwards.

When this astrological cycle occurs, all forms of communication tend to break down, varying levels of miscommunication results, and we experience greater degrees of misunderstanding at this period of time than with any other time.

Our thinking and communication abilities tend to be slower at this time and it is a good thing to be patient with ourselves and others.  There can be a lot of delays and undelivered messages of any kind.  Computers and other communication and information based gadgets (cellphones, etc.) tend to break down or experience diminished functionality.  Missed appointments are likely, also greater traffic problems, as well the failure to keep promises, and to misplace documents.

The May 9, 2016 Philippine national elections fall in the middle of the retrograde period, and can be said to be not the best time for it, as the tendency for very confused thinking is very high at this time leading to hasty decisions regarding the choice of candidates. This can be offset if the choice of candidates to be voted for has already been carefully thought out and reflected upon many times just before putting their names in the ballots and casting them.

It is worth noting that for this instance, not only is Mercury the only planet turning retrograde, but four planets as well! Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, and Pluto are also retrograding during the May 9 elections. This is a rare event, the first time in 10 years, and will definitely exert an influence in the upcoming elections.  People are prone to change their minds regarding who they will vote even into the last minute of the elections, previous surveys notwithstanding.  Or worse, people can put a specific individual in power as the result of the elections, only to regret it afterwards.

Many strange things can happen before the elections can be fated, the flow of events can slow down and time will appear as if stretched.

Binay, Poe, Duterte @ 2016 Philippine Presidential Election

Jejomar Binay will still emerge as the next president of the Philippines, from a very controversial result of the 2016 Philippine Presidential election, which will be highly contested by many, and the word that an impeachment will soon follow, resounding, even louder than ever.

Rodrigo Duterte will put in a high result in polls, coming in at 2nd or 3rd place.

Regarding Grace Poe, a Ten of Batons was taken for her in this reading.  She will not win the Presidential post in 2016, much to her disappointment.

Could you please read on developments around Mayor Rodrigo Duterte's presidential candidacy?

There is a good possibility that an offer will come his way in the very near future, but he must work hard to go out and seal it.  Although it is already under his nose, there is still a possibility that he will lose it. 

The cards give an advice that he needs to exhibit concern for other people’s needs in favor of his own. What is lacking now is his connection on the emotional level rather than intellectual.  The cards suggest to be more conscious of the consequences of his actions and their effect on others.

Grace Poe and Chiz Escudero @ 2016 Philippine Presidential and Vice Presidential Elections

Senator Grace Poe, after launching her presidential campaign last Sept 16, will continue to be plagued with problems and controversies, due to the wrong timing of  her announcement being done within a two-day corridor of a Mercury retrograde period, plus at an hour when the moon is changing signs ("void of course" in astronomical and astrological circles ). Even if she has the luck brought by planet Jupiter on her side, which is crossing or "transiting' her natal sign of Virgo) which gifted her with becoming an early favorite for the presidency by topping the surveys, she will face attacks from those that would concretely and objectively expose the many things about her - residency, citizenship, etc., that point out her ineligibility for the presidency at this time.

The planet Jupiter transiting her sign of Virgo at this period of time, may not have only given her the luck of being an early favorite in the presidential race, but may have given her a dose of over confidence which can be seen by her opting to be an independent candidate.  She will come out as vague and too general when laying out her programs.

Last September 13's solar eclipse, which also occurred in the sign of Virgo may have also pushed Senator Grace Poe to go on with the announcement of her candidacy. This is a major turning point in her life, a new beginning, which all solar eclipses herald.

Even if she manages to get to file her candidacy for the presidency, she will lose to a male rival.


On the other hand, Sen. Francis 'Chiz' Escudero's announcement of his run for the vice presidential position, which occurred the next day following Sen. Grace Poe's announcement, was better timed in the sense that it was made when the moon was already securely placed in the astrological sign of Scorpio, and at an auspicious time in that morning when he made his announcement.  However, it still falls within the eve of the start of a Mercury retrograde, and the announcement was made during a weak period of Senator Escudero's life cycle (within 52 days before his October 10th birthday, a period known as the "7th cycle" or the Saturn period in esoteric astrology), which will cause uncertainty on his vice presidential aspiration.

I don't see him securing the Philippine Vice President position in 2016, either.

Who will be the next Vice President of the Philippines? Will Miriam Defensor-Santiago and Rodrigo Duterte run for higher office and will they make it? Thanks!

When asked on who the next vice president of the country would be, the cards made it clear that this position will be held by man.  This is consistent with my earlier prediction, 2016 Philippine Presidential Election, which was published last year, and until now the cards are saying the same thing.

This man gives a first impression of having a quiet and passive demeanor until he expresses himself, revealing an intensely passionate personality, well-trained in the science and art of politics. He would be of middle build, neither thin nor possessing excessive weight, fair complexioned with rather fine features.  This man is highly principled, very set on his own ways, and has been seen as an active and dynamic personality in carrying out the functions of his current public office.  He has given the impression of being an able statesman with a lot of accomplishments to his credit.

Leni Robredo will eventually run for public office this 2016, but not as vice president. That also goes for Vilma Santos who will run again go for public office but not as vice president.

For those asking about Kris Aquino running for the position, the cards are persistent that Kris Aquino’s focus is on her personal life - family, career, and accumulation of more wealth and material success.  I don’t see her running for the VP position in 2016.

Mar Roxas @ 2016 Philippine Presidential Elections

The card spread sets off with Mar Roxas showing a sign of relief that after all the chaos and waiting, he was eventually officially declared as the 'endorsed' candidate for the 2016 elections.  On the other hand, the succeeding  cards are saying there are some hesitation on Mar's part to take that long term commitment, he is into some sort of paranoia that along the way there will be zillions of attacks awaiting him.  The cards are saying that he should avoid getting into a hasty generalization, and instead just go though the flow of this exercise.  The good thing is, he also knows that to achieve his goal to be the next President of the Philippines, he would need to focus on the tasks at hand and ignore the nuisances and distractions around him.
